Tivoli Gardens or Bust

We had a big day planned for today — Tivoli Gardens! My mother-in-law has raved about Tivoli Gardens ever since her trip to Denmark back in the 70’s, so I was really looking forward to our day. However, Mother Nature had other ideas. We woke up to a torrential downpour, checked the weather, and it was supposed to rain on and off all day. We decided we weren’t going to let a little rain spoil our day, so off we went.

The picture above is one of the few times during the day when it wasn’t raining. We were running and ducking for cover — in and out of coffee shops and gift shops all day. We saw some very beautiful and interesting things, but all in all, I was very disappointed with Tivoli Gardens. Maybe it was different 40 years ago, but now it’s just one giant amusement park, like Six Flags or Sea World. Here’s a bunch of pictures that were taken that day while it wasn’t raining.

So, we’re back at our room, asleep. It’s about 3:00AM in the morning, and Carolyn wakes up and says, “you gotta get me outta here.” After some discussion about the miserable weather, we decided to cancel the rest of Scandinavia trip and go to France. I stayed up until about 6:00AM, cancelled all our flights and reservations, found us two round-trip tickets to Paris, reserved a car for pickup at Charles de Gaule and went to bed.
